So this is the very first computer I have ever put together. I would love have you guys take a look at how I'm doing. I wanted to make it somewhat cheaper, for sure under $1,000 I wanted to get it closer to $700-$800. My main use for this computer would be gaming, I would like to have it be able to run Battlefield 3, Metro 2033, GW2, Skyrim, and other games like that on some pretty high settings. This is what I was planing on getting so far:

I5 2500k - http://www.microcenter.com/single_ [...] id=0354589

Z68 Extreme3 MB - http://www.microcenter.com/single_ [...] id=0384988

GTX 560ti - http://www.microcenter.com/single_ [...] id=0356463

12GB RAM - http://www.microcenter.com/single_ [...] id=0360528

1TB HD - http://www.microcenter.com/single_ [...] id=0334293

Case - http://www.microcenter.com/single_ [...] id=0343331

Cooling Fan - http://www.microcenter.com/single_ [...] id=0373900

CD - http://www.microcenter.com/single_ [...] id=0322335

Power - http://www.microcenter.com/single_ [...] id=0361423

PS: Is the i5 2500k the same as this one? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819115072

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you for your time :)

Basically anything over 8GB of ram is overkill. You don't really need an Hyper 212 EVO unless you're overclocking, and the 560ti will not get you max settings on BF3, my guess would be High and some medium settings

Not necessarily, It may help with temps but unless you're overclocking it really isn't worth it.

I am not saying it will not help with the overall lifespan, yes, it probably will. My point is that you don't really need one that powerful if you aren't overclocking. They have fans come with cpu's for a reason.
