Hello, I want to buy a Amd radon hd 6950 graphics card but I don't know what power supply would be compatible with this specific card or how many watts I would require if I upgraded to this card. Can someone please point me in the direction to a psu that would be suitable for my pc

specifications:
AMD phenom II x4 975 BE 3.6ghz
Nvidia gtx 520
4 gigs of ram (ddr3 2x sticks)
1tb harddrive

Thanks in advance

A 650w brand name power supply should give you enough power for your system with room to spare. Unless you plan to Crossfire down the road, then i suggest a 850 or even 950w PSU. Overkill probably, but would you rather not have enough or too much lol.

You don't need more than 500 watts for that build, 650 if you want the crossfire option. If you look at the Tom's Hardware charts for 3D load Power Draw you will see that even with 2 of the cards the reference system was only drawing 468 watts from the wall. If you want another reference, my computer with a 955BE overclocked to 3.7Ghz draws only 235 watts under heavy CPU load. Anything over 650 watts is overkill for you, but as others have said, pay attention to the brand.
