Going to be putting an i5 3570K on an ASUS MB for new build.
Considering fitting a CPU cooler ..

I am not intending to overclock (at least for now) but thought I could/should fit CPU cooler at time of build.
Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition CPU Cooler as it's on offer.

In that case I don't need the stock Intel cooler ... can you buy the i5 without the stock cooler ? or do just have to accept it as waste.

More about : cooler

Unless you buy an OEM part, the Retail box of the i5-3570k will come with a CPU cooler. So you're just going to have to accept it as waste

As long as you are not overclocking the stock cooler should work fine for you. If you are looking for a quiet cooler then you can look at something like the Corsair H60 or get the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo and replace the 120mm fan with a quiet model.
