Hello everybody!

I have to build a new PC because my old machine blew up a couple of days ago.
Because I haven't built a new desktop in 4-5 years, I am not up to date regarding the newest hardware trends.

My user preferences are: surfing, multi tasking (2 displays, many things running the same time) and gaming (love gaming, but don't need a high end card).

I did quite a bit research and came up with these parts so far. I live in Canada and would appreciate links that make sense.

Motherboard: ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 ($235) - I want a good MB and USB3.0 is important to me

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500k ($235) - Best value CPU right now?

Memory: 16 gigs of something (2x8 ideally) ($125) - looking for 2x8 so I can add another 16 down the line (ASUS has a 32GB RAM limit)

Video Card: I have a budget between $150-200

HDD: Best available under $100

Cooler: Best available under $50

Case: Best available under $100

Optical Drive/burner: Cheapest for $20 (LG)

PS: Corsair TX650 V2 650 W ($80)

I have issues finding a good case for under 100$. I want USB 3.0, ideally in the front.
I also have no idea what video card would be best value under $200.

I don't care about the HDD, Optical drive and Cooler....I can figure those out when I order.

So far the I have around $900 allocated without a video card (and taxes and shipping). I don't need a mouse, keyboard, monitors or anything else.

What would be the best value video card under $200?

What case under $100 is best value and wasn't released too long ago (want USB3.0)?

If anybody has some input or helpful comments (also regarding the selected parts), please don't hesitate. I really need help!

THANKS! :)

based on your usage, i' just get 8gb of ram instead of 16gb, since theres no difference in gaming, and its doubtful you'll be running enough stuff to exceed 8gb ram.
note that you need win7 professional/ultimate to use more than 16gb of ram

Thanks for the help guys. The rams are a personal preference and I don't want to have to upgrade in the near future. I do use Win 7 ultimate and dual screen multi task all the time. :)

Still looking for more variety.
Cases under 100$
GPU under 200$

Thanks again

Thank you so much for taking the time. This is really helpful. I might just order everything there like you suggested.
The GPU is a bit more expensive than what I was hoping to pay. Do you think it is worth it? Do you have another good value GPU for around 200?

Thanks again

It's hard to suggest another vid card seeing how your running dual monitors. You want the xtra VRAM like that AMD card provides. If you drop the SSD from that build (you can always pick one up at a later time) that should put you well within your budget.

I wasn't planning on getting a SSD anyways...forgot to mention that in the original post. They aren't big enough yet for my liking and too expensive. If I'm correct, I can just upgrade later with this motherboard. Thanks again for the help!
