CPU Liquid Cooler

Can anyone explain to me the basics of a CPU liquid cooler? On my CPU is a square and hoses run up to the roof of my tower, where the radiator and fans are. I'm just wondering how it works. I wonder if the fans blow cold air from the radiator on to the CPU, but then what are the hoses for? Again, thanks for any help you can give me!

Basically a liquid CPU cooler works like the liquid cooling system in a car. The heat transfers from the CPU to the liquid. The liquid is pumped away to the radiator, where the fans blow cold air into the radiator which takes the heat away and cools the system.
