6950...but the price on that is too high. Wait 1 month the new 7870/7850 will be out for a similar price. They will perform a lot better.

They trade benchmarks. Each has games in which it performs better. You might be able to declare the 6950 "better" based on an fps average, but it'll be very close, and I generally consider it a tie.
You can wait as long as you want in the tech world. There will always be new stuff just around the corner if you look far enough away. If a month doesn't seem like a lot to you, then by all means wait. If you want performance now, though, I'd take that Ti or this 6950. 1gb is enough, assuming you're playing on a resolution of 1920x1080 or lower.

Actually, you've put up a bad comparison. Your 6950 is in $CAD, but the Ti is in $USD, so their price difference is increased. The harder question is between my two 1gb cards, above. I'd probably take the Nvidia, but then I've got a 460 running, so I'm biased. It's hard to say; the two are very similar in performance.

i have come to realize that the first number in a radeon graphic card is the generation and the second number is how high end the card is. Looking at this, wouldn't the 6950 be better than the 7850 which you guys claim to be the same price in a month?

to add i don't want to pay over $300 for a card so will the 7850 be under $300

Forget the HD 78xx series, they won't be faster than the current HD 69xx series, the HD 7970 itself is just a 25% faster than HD 6970.
You can push your budget a little higher and get a brand new HD 6970.

HD 6970 is around $330.
They are both the same, as long as you're not going to game above 1920x1080P 1 GB is sufficient, as you see from the above chart, when the additional VRAM is not needed it reduces the performance, a phenomenon observed with the HD 6950s 1GB & 2GB versions.

I don't know anything about the HD 7870 neither the price or the performance all what i can guess is that it will have a performance like the HD 6950 or maybe lower, but will be a card with features like Eyefinity 3D, 4K resolution ready and so on......

I've seen the specs before, but the real world performance is different.
The HD 6870 was less than the HD 5850 by specs and it performed faster.

the cheapest 6970 is this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

can anyone find a cheaper one?

Thats the cheapest one ive seen.
The iceq isnt good looking but it should be fine, and at that price should be a good deal.
I was in this samr situation when getting my 570. I didnt want reference but couldnt pass up the 300.00 price tag and although not the exact card i wanted, performs the same and saved me 60 bux

so ur saying gtx 570?

No Im saying my situation when buying my 570 is similar to what you are deciding right now. I didnt necessarily want the cooler model i got but in the end couldnt pass up the good price.
If its the 6970 2gb iceq you want even though not the best looking should do the trick especially for the price. Thats all Im trying to say is price makes the deal sweeter
