so i have a scythe chassis fan that i bought for my new build. The fan itself has a 3 pin connector, which i plugged it directly to the CHA_FAN2. When the computer is turned on, for some reason the fan doesn't spin, and in bios, the CHA_fAN2 is unavailable, so is the reading on CHA_FAN1 (with 4 pins, but no fans connecting to it.) I do have a smaller back fan plugged into the PWR_FAN... that works well but i should put that in a different spot.

ANyways, why is the CHA_FAN2 not powering my scythe fan or even reading it on bios? it says N/A.

Asus M5a97 evo,
fx-8150 core,

thank you all!

In BIOS, can you manually change the CHA_2 fan setting? Normally you can make a change. For a fan port that is not in use (and your was not until now), you should set the port to ignore the fan, because there is no fan sped signal and it might get worried about the fan not turning. But now that you have a fan connected, try setting that port to Auto.
