Hello everyone,

this is my first attempt at trying to build my pc. i've previously bought my pc and laptops and they get old really fast

so i thought i should make something that can last for 3 to 4 years this time

please keep in mind that i have no knowledge whatsoever in building pc and that i have only researched about the parts in the past 3 days

i am stuck between choosing between two or more for the components and does not know whether every component will be compatible with each other

please bear with my newbie-ness :D

here is my proposed build:

cpu: i5 2500k
gpu: Sapphire 6950 HD Toxic Crossfire / Sapphire 7950 OC edition
mb: Asus P8Z68 V-Pro / Asrock Extreme4 Gen3
ram: G.Skill Ripjaws 2x4gb
hdd: Samsung SpinPoint F3 Desktop Class 1TB / Caviar Black 1TB
psu: Enermax MODU 87+ 800W, quad rail, modular

i'm assuming i'll be needing an internet card and a dvd drive? lol

I appreciate your help :D

You did pretty good with your list. You might be a little heavy with your PSU (you won't need anywhere near 800 watts). You won't need a NIC card either (it's built into your Mobo). Other than an optical drive and maybe this:

your good to go! Good luck with your build.

could you help out on choosing between 6950 Toxic crossfire or 7950 OC edition?

and whether to go for asus or asrock mobo? is the NIC card only built into the asus one?

thank you for your help :D

Myself I'm partial to Asus boards (even though ASRock is kind of "related"). NIC cards are pretty much built into all Motherboards these days. See if the info here:

can help you with those two GPU choices.
