Case Fan Installation

This is my first build and I am trying to figure out the best way to plug in my case fan. Here are my parts:

The case only comes with one fan, the rest are optional. My motherboard has a 4-pin header, while the case fan has a 3-pin header. It also has a molex connector. I was wondering if I should plug this fan directly into the motherboard, and not the PSU, or just the PSU. Any suggestions?

I would personally plug the fan into the motherboard... Though I'm sure plugging it into the PSU would be the same thing, just my preference

Alright thanks. But then the molex connector is just hanging off the 3-pin plug. Is that okay?

yes thats fine. if you are really picky with it, find a way to tie up the molex connector to the wire as a whole with a zip tie or a rubber band or something.

Will do. I also am plugging in the HDD and optical drive. My PSU has two different kinds of plugs that both say SATA on them. Does it matter which of these I use?

your psu should have this plug

which connects to the drives. the drives are also connected to the motherboard with a different kind of sata cable through the sata ports
