Hi guys!

First post - I don't necesserily need a computer - However, this is getting on 5 years old and is fairly boring.

I'll keep the x-fi card, PSU and the 5850. GFXcard is around 8 month's old and I don't see much point in spending alot for not a whole lot of gain so will just keep that.

Just need a CPU/Mobo/Ram/Case/Fan/SSD

£400 Limit

What would you recommend? Or would you even recommend an upgrade at all?

Also if I were to upgrade what would I get for a Q6700 + 4GB DDR2 800Mhz OCZ Ram (4 * 1GB - it's got silver heatsinks on) + my P5KE-Wifi? Maybe 150 or is that too optimistic?

Cheers

A bit more info please.

Overclocking?
What PSU are you using?

$150 USD would be about right for those parts, sold as a working set.

Yeah no problem,

I'd probably overclock it yeah, however just on air.

The PSU I have is just a basic one - It's an Alpine 750W (Which has been reported of exploding - I've just read this - brilliant - Ha!)

I'm based in the UK however, so prices mentioned are in £ rather than $.

Mate of mine is likely to buy my current set up for £250, and I've eyed another set up for £465 delivered... Here's what I'd be buying..

- Antec 300 modded to remove HDD cage (allows longer graphics cards)
- 550w OCZ Bronze PSU 80+ Bronze
- 1 x 140mm Antec tri-speed exhaust on top of case
- 2 x 120mm Gentle Typhoon intakes at front of case
- i5-2500k @ 4ghz, Corsair H60 w/ push pull Gentle Typhoons
- Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 Motherboard
- 4GB Ram
- 500GB HDD
- Sparkle GTX560 non-Ti 1gb

+ can always add an SSD to this, so for an outlay of £215... would this be worth it?

Asus Sabertooth P67 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) Motherboard £140 - Novatech
2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i5 2500K 3.30GHz Socket LGA1155 £163 Novatech
G.Skill RipjawsX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit £44 Novatech

Wait and save for an SSD as the prices are a little high at the moment

That seems fairly nice.

Yeah I've gone with that.

I'm sure it should be fairly future proof - can always upgrade the GPU and add an ssd along the way.

Should be a big improvement over my current system?

Huge.
