Worth Upgrading to i5 2500k and mobo...?

Dear All,


I am planning to upgrade my machine, but could not figure it out whether upgrade is worth or not..? my current machine has no issues its working great.. I almost played all new games with high settings without any lags or issues.. planning to upgrade my CPU to i5 2500k along with ASUS or MSI mobo..


My current config #

AMD phenom ii x4 945
ASUS m4a88t-m
8GB corsair vengeance @1600mhz
MSI gtx 560 ti HAWK
Elite 430 black with 4 fans
PSU Cooler Master GX 550.

Please help me with your expertise and advise..

If it works, I wouldn't upgrade unless you're rich. Microcenter has the 2500K for $180 new if you live near one; I've seen them used for $160 recently. If you upgrade, I would sell your old motherboard and cpu first, then order the new parts and wait for them to arrive before taking the old board and cpu out. You might get $125 for them as a combo on craigslist or anandtech's for sale forum.

Thanks for ur suggestion.. yes would sale my old mobo and cpu .. What i really want to know is after upgrading cpu and mobo .. my PC performance would boost up or not.? if yes is it going to be an average or outstanding... also help me with the best budget mobo.. no plans for SLI in future..
