The question is the title.

I'm a super casual gamer. I'm thinking low res (720p), playing medium settings on most games (like skyrim).

I understand that the gt 520 is a very low end card, but how good is it. what settings will i be playing on for 25-30 fps?

As you mention yourself, the GT 520 is not really meant for gaming.

Toms did a benchmark of Skyrim where they had a Radeon 6450 as the lowest performer.
The Radeon 6450 performs slightly better than a GT 520 so you can use that as a rough guideline.

Do you already have the GT 520? If not, you might want to consider another card, even if it is just for very casual gaming, the Radeon 6450 is cheaper and performs slightly better.
A Radeon 6570 would offer a massive performance boost while not being much more expensive.

aight thx. its just that i got a barebones kit that came with a GT 520. i'm planning on upgrading to an HD 7850 in march, so i was wondering how good my graphics will be untill then. i figure if i play medium, 720p, aa af and Vsinc toned down, i will get 25-30 frames on skyrim. itll still be playable. and once i upgrade my GPU and PSU, it will eat up games like battlefield 3. :D
