So I was having problems with my new HD 6850, when I went into my local PC shop the gentleman behind the counter whom I was buying a vga adapter off of said that he had had lots of trouble with HD 6850s and that he had to send lots back and that is was rather common knowledge that HD 6850s were bad cards. Now I have never heard this before, but as I hope to be sending my card back today I want to hear your guys opinions as I could still get a refund under Distance Selling or just RMA it under warranty?

No, you look at the brand you buy. Not the '6850'. No name brand cards likes to have high failure rate so you can't blame the '6850'.
