First build help please

Ok guys I been looking on forums of this site for a long time but only till today I have made my mind up to ask a question. I am now going to take on the responsibility of making a computer for the first time! I need this computer to currently play WoW, css, TF2, GTA, Call of duty, Star Craft II and many others. The reason I need this pc is at the moment my pc cannot run cod or gta it has very limited graphics on starcraft and wow. I want this pc to play on a high graphics on all of these games and be good enough to play with good graphics on any future games that will come out, for example CS GO.

Here are the parts I propose to put together

CPU: http://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-FX-Series-FX-8120-Processor-Warranty/dp/B005UBNKZG/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1333190928&sr=1-1 £141.70

Motherboard:http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-SABERTOOTH-990FX-ASUS-AM3/dp/B0053GR2HA/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top £116.30

Need to update bios http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqLRUZksMgs&annotation_id=annotation_661261&src_vid=nkUb7qglfIY&feature=iv

RAM: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9-1600MHz-Vengeance-Memory/dp/B004CRSM4I/ref=pd_bxgy_computers_img_b £40.98

PSU: ?

G card: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-Radeon-11179-17-21G-HD6870-Graphics/dp/B0065CK9EY/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1333194739&sr=1-2 £132.70

HDD: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-HD103SJ-internal-SATAII-7200RPM/dp/B002MQC0P8/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1333195104&sr=1-1 £90.00

DVD Drive: Average joe cheap thing.

As you can see there is no psu included because I dont know what one to get taking into consideration wattage and makes and so on, also there is no case as i dont care for that at moment we are just looking at hardware.

Please comment telling me the psu that i should use or any upgrades I can use for cheaper, just your own opinion on it taking into account the games I want to play.

Thanking you for your advice in advance.

More about first build please
  1. If this computer is for gaming you don't need an 8-core FX. The games you mentioned will use no more than 2 cores. With the price of the FX-8120 you could get an i5-2500k and be much more satisfied and your performance will be much greater. I am not an FX series hater, I have an FX-6100 in another machine and I use my Phenom II X4 980BE over my FX-6100 because it performs better in just about everything. You will have to change motherboards to accommodate the 1155 socket I suggested but everything else you posted looks legit.

    For a 6870, 500W is just fine.
  3. I would get an I5-2400 because it performs exactly the same in games.
  4. I have no price mark really, but I would prefer it if we stayed 900 pounds tops

can you give me a spec that you feel is better or just as good with that i5 please, i dont know what mother board would be best
  6. Okay heres what I recommend:

    CPU: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Intel-Sandybridge-i5-2500K-Quad-Core-Processor/dp/B004FA8NX2/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1333210381&sr=1-1 163 pounds

    Mobo: http://www.amazon.co.uk/ASRock-P67-EXTREME4-GEN3-Motherboard/dp/B005FGMQAQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1333210558&sr=1-1 137 pounds

    RAM: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B-1600Mhz-Vengeance-Memory/dp/B004QBUL1C/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1333210599&sr=1-2 40 pounds

    HDD: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-ST31000524AS-Barracuda-7200rpm-Buffer/dp/B004HBAGSO/ref=sr_1_3?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1333210635&sr=1-3 83 pounds

    SSD: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-CT064M4SSD2-64GB-M4-SSD/dp/B004W2JKWG/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1333210670&sr=1-2 70 pounds

    PSU: http://www.amazon.co.uk/CORSAIR-Builder-Series-CX600-Power/dp/B0050N69YI/ref=sr_1_4?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1333210733&sr=1-4 65 pounds

    GPU: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-11188-05-20G-HD6950-Graphics-GDDR5/dp/B005G50EOQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1333210942&sr=1-1 232 pounds

    DVDRW: http://www.amazon.co.uk/LiteOn-IHAS122-18-Internal-SATA-DVD-RW/dp/B0048027MW/ref=sr_1_2?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1333211011&sr=1-2 15 pounds

    Case: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Antec-Three-Hundred-Midi-Case/dp/B0017Q8IAA/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1333211063&sr=1-1 47 pounds

All that comes to 852 pounds. Man I am jealous I wish I had all that, haha. I think you'd be really happy with this rig. Also if you want to overclock get this:

    CPU HSF: http://www.amazon.co.uk/COOLER-MASTER-RR-212E-16PK-R1-Cooler-Version/dp/B0068OI7T8/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1333211156&sr=1-1 28 pounds

    That puts you at £880
  7. I take it the SSD is optional?
  8. yeh its not necessary but for an awesome rig like that you should have a small one to put your OS, web browser, and favorite games on. It makes a big difference.
  9. ok sir thankyou so much for your help, appreciate it. I have no idea how to overclock btw, nor really wat it intails, i know that it basically makes your pc better then its capabilities, but can u explain or link to site on how to do and so on?

Well if you get the i5-2500k i suggested it is pretty easy as it has an unlocked multiplier. Heres a good guide for your CPU:
