Display on initial boot up

I'm getting ready to put together my rig, and I have a gtx 550 ti so I was planning on using the hdmi output. My question is will this function on first start up, or will I need to use the vga output from the motherboard. Any help is appreciated.

The card will work on first startup. You will probably have really crappy like 800x600 resolution until you install Nvidia drivers, but it will definitely work.
