Hi
Just got a GTX 460 and was wondering if it is ok to use power from the port labelled L4P instead of the PCI-E one on my power supply. I do not have the correct cables to go from the PCI-E port on the PSU to the graphics card itself. The cables supplied with the power supply are molex to 6 pin adaptors so seem to inidicate this is what i should do...is that right?

Cheers guys.

Yes it is ok to use molex 4 pin to 6 pin pci-e adaptors, just make sure you are following the power loading correctly on each 12v rail of the PSU.

How do i ensure i do that? I have a twin rail evolabs 700W which states 30A across each rail.....Does this mean that if i plug into the L4P ports on the PSU it is running from the 12V rail/rails? What is the difference between ports labelled PCI-E and L4P on the PSU other than the plug format?

Should have a pair of 6+2 connectors, those are what you would use
As far as the rail loading, the engineers have taken care of that

It is similar to that yes. I have two 6pin and 2 8pin PCI-E sockets in the psu tho. Problem is i don't have the cables to use those sockets. What i am trying to figure out is if the adaptors supplied with the card (molex to 6pin) are supposed to be used off the 6pin L4P/SATA sockets, which i DO have the cables to connect to?
