I am afraid I have some bad news. I went over to Amazon and used their search engine for find atx power supplies. Then I had them sorted by price from low to high. There were no suitable 500 watt power supplies for $30.00. I did notice that at that price there were power supplies that were on the PSU Lemon List:

You don't need a 500w psu for a 7850. Actually your 300 may work, but the Corsair 420 would certainly do the job.

Corsair CX500V2 or PC Power & Cooling Silencer Mk3S500 (Seasonic) are among the quality 500 watt PS units that are in the lower price range....low $40 to mid $50 range if in the US.

A 7850 is $230 or more and will be obsolete in 2 years. A good power supply costs $50 (though see my link about the sale on the Corsair 430) and will last 5-7 years. A cheap one can destroy your graphics card, motherboard and cpu.

Obsolete is far too harsh. I simply meant that it will have been replaced, possibly twice, by newer generations of hardware, whereas the psu will still be essentially the same technology. I have to laugh...if you knew what I do for a living you might reconsider "know nothing about tech hardware"
