Hello,

I recently decided to upgrade my CPU from a i5-2400 to an i5-2500k, because I became interested in overclocking.

I went out, bought the new CPU along with new RAM and a heatsink, after taking apart the PC and re-assembling everything with the new CPU intact, my computer wouldn't turn on. The lights on the mobo and graphics card are on, but when I press the power switch, nothing happens, no fans go on, nothing. I doubled checked to make sure everything was connected, but still nothing happens. What did I do wrong?

System specs:

Motherboard: Asus P8P67
GPU: Asus GTX 560 ti
CPU (the new one) : intel i5-2500k, the old one was an i5-2400
Heatsink: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
RAM (also new) : Corsair "Vengeance" CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B 8GB
PSU: Silver Stone SST-ST60F-ES 600w

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you either connected a cord in the wrong place or just didn't connect a cord when you re-inserted.

Are you sure your PSU is plugged twice into your motherboard and that you didn't leave the cable disconnected that attaches right by the processor?

Are you sure the switch on the back of the PSU is set to allow the PSU to be turned on?

How about the front panel connectors. Are you sure both of the ones that say PWR_BTN are plugged into both ports listed in the manual as PWR_BTN?

Sounds like the problem is something simple you are overlooking. Either that or your 2500k is DOA (very unlikely).
