Free operating system for toshiba satelite

Hello, i did a restore to manufacturers setting on my toshiba satelite laptop, and my operating system deleted itself. I need my laptop its how i work its been weeks, I do not have the recovery cd its calling for

Ubuntu is a decent GUI based on the Linux Kernel. Not widows, but it is free.

Also, I know a lot of college students get free software from Microsoft through the "MSDNAA".

Lastly, I think you can still get the Windows 8 Consumer Preview. It supposedly dies when real widows 8 goes live, but it might convince you it's worth buying.

Since the OS key is written in a sticker behind your laptop, the only thing that you have to do is look for a DVD of the same version of windows that you had and use the key on your laptop for install the OS. It's perfectly legal and can be do it.
