Sorry guys if this topic has been beaten to death. But im interested to find out since I favor to play Nvidia based games if I should of went from my xfx 6870 to the superclocked version of the gtx 460 or is the difference that insignificant to notice ?

I keep hearing that the gtx 460 is a superb card to overclock with and when done right can meet performance of a gtx 470 ? On the other hand the performance of the 6870 is nice right out of the box with it's core clock of 900 mhz but has little headroom to OC for improvement from what I gathered !! What do you guys think ? :pt1cable:

the reference 6870 is going to be faster than the 460 even if you oc the 460 considerably.

if you already have a 6870, you will be doing a downgrade.

Yeah a heavily overclocked GTX460 is about equal to a stock GTX470. If you look at the benchmarks a GTX470 still loses more often than not to a stock HD6870.

The 6870 can still be overclocked.

Much appreciated guys :)

A bit off topic but is there any program that displays my gpu and cpu temps? Is afterburner a decent program to keep an eye on them ?
