What Proccessor Should I Get For My System? I7 3770 or I7 3820?

My PC Specs ( Excluding Processor and Mobo )

PSU - 500Watt ( Will Change if needed )
Graphics Card - Asus Geforce GTX560Ti Superclocked Top Edition
Cooling - Corsair H40
Case - Gygabyte GZ-X2 Mid Tower
RAM - 8GB DDR3 1066 Dual Channel ( Will Change To 8GB DDR3-2133 if you guys think its neccessary )

So should i get :

a) I7 3770 w/ LGA1155

or

b) I7 3820 w/ LGA2011

Get the Hyper 212 EVO instead of the H40.


I would get LGA 1155 IMO.

cpu - core i5 2500k or 3570k if you're building for gaming, 3770 if multithreaded tasks are included.
cooler - cm hyper 212 evo.
mobo - asus z77v pro or asrock z77 extreme4
gfx card - radeon hd 7850 (if you haven't bought already)
ram - ddr3 1600, sandy/ivy bridge compatible.

Get the 1155 chip, the 3820 just isn't worth the price due to the limited overclocking options.

For gaming an overclocked I7 3770 will perform better, at a lower price.

The Hyper 212 EVO will delivery adequate cooling cheaper aswell.

And as for the 3570 instead of the 3770 for gaming, I would disagree. At the moment yes 4 cores is enough, but in the interest of future proofing and the new consoles coming next year, hyper threading will likely be a feature you will want.
