I need to purchase a new computer and I see they all come with Vista 7
Will my office 97 with the Office XP 2002 upgrade load and work properly.

I understand I can upgrade the computer to Windows Pro which adds XP to the computer, but the cost of that upgrade is lmore than Offfice 2010

Also, does anyone know if QuickBooks Pro 2000 will work in Vista 7?

Not all system come with Vista 7 -- you should be able to find a good pc with Windows 7, which is much better than Vista.

I´d advise you to open a new thread asking for recommendation on a new computer, as as people in this forum are qualified to help you. Just tell your budget and what is the PC for.

Would u like to try a free solution, fully compatible office suite, LibreOffice and OpenOffice

http://www.libreoffice.org/ and http://www.openoffice.org/

Those are old programs now, and if u use them with Win7, they wont work properly.

U can check if it is compatible here.

Windows 7 Compatibility Center

Yes, I am running QuickBooks 2000 Pro on Windows 7 with no problems so far. You'll need your registration number from your old computer, which you get by clicking on Help>About QB. I installed CD and clicked on "Open to view files." I then right clicked Setup.exe>Properties and selected the bar at bottom thats says "Change set up for all users." The, I choose the "compatibility" tab and checked the box that said run in compatibility mode and choose run as "windows 2000" from the lists. Then, I think I hit "apply" and then "close." Then, with the original "open to view files" list, I clicked on "setup.exe" and let itbegin installing. It worked perfectly. When it opened, I clicked on "restore" and added my old files from an external hard drive (your may be on a saved CD). After I used it a few times, a window popped up asking me to register within 25 uses. The internet registration option showed an error, so I clicked on "register by phone" and typed in my registration number (saved from old computer) and clicked okay it accepted it and returned a thank you message. I did have to reload my logo for the custom invoice template...all other files appear intact and complete. Done and working without an upgrade.

Thanks for the answer on Quick Books 2000

I made an error in my intial quesiton saying I had VIsta as my operating system, it is Windows 7.

My computer will arrive in a few days and I will attempt to load Qucikbooks as suggested. I still have the registration number and when purchased, it was for 5 users.

Did anyone else have similar success?

Thanks in advance for your help
