5.1 through optical off of built in sound

hey everyone

I have an AZRock z77 extreme 4 with the realtek ALC898 codec. I am trying to get 5.1 to flow through my optical out and I just can't get it to work. I have tried the 5 dollar DDL/DTS package but i get an error every time i try to install the software.


any help would be great!!

Don't think you can; its rare for motherboard vendors to enable DDL/DTS-C on their onboard chipsets.

yeah, it does seem to be that way

i'll keep looking into it but i'll have to give up one of these days
