i am building a computer for the first time and i need help selecting parts for a gaming pc. my budget is $1300

Budget Range: $1000 - $1300

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming ( battlefield 3, star craft 2, metro 2033 ), schoolwork ( word documents, power points, etc...), internet surfing

Parts Not Required: monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, OS

Don't get either - the FX has so many problems associated with it that it's hard to recommend it on any build, and liquid cooling is *WAY* too much risk for not a lot of payoff.

Total should be at $1270 or close to at least...

You seriously can't generalize on builds with the sheer amount of hardware that's available - you need specifics.
