acer t690desktop won't boot to vista. stops at acer screen del:set up, f12. i've done the battery to reset bios, f8 etc. no input from keyboard it seems? what do i do? can't get into windows to get to 'start' to initiate anything.
This is a strange one! First thing I would suggest is to perform a static discharge. To do this, unplug the pc from the mains lead, and hold down the power button for about 20 seconds to get rid of any charge in the system.
Next thing would be to see if maybe the RAM is faulty and causing an issue. Remove all the RAM and then try to boot the system with just one stick of RAM in the PC at a time, in the slot nearest the processor. If it boots with a particular stick but not another then one of them is faulty and will need replacing.
When you turn the PC on does a screen come up that lets you know what hardware the POST has found? Is it registering everything it should? (Mouse, Keyboard, Hard drives, Processor, RAM)
