I have a heatsink and the fan on it always runs at 4500 rpms. My BIOS won't let me change fan speed so I was wondering if I bought a new better heatsink (Current one is stock) if that new one would run at full rpm power as well or not? thanks.
Hmmm.... that's odd. It seems your BIOS isn't responding to the option. When in Windows, run CPU-Z and see what your core speed is. Then look under the mainboard tab and check what BIOS version you have. http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/cpu-z/1.61-setup-en.exe

Core speed is 1006.54 mhz
My Bios is out of date. I think I am going to update it now and see if that helps
That was going to be my next suggestion. You may want to try resetting your BIOS, or selecting the fail safe option before an update. Just to see if you need to go that far.
Download the .ZIP file that contains the BIOS and instructions in a .DOC file. Open the .DOC file and read the instructions for whichever BIOS you have; AMI, Award, etc. If you don't feel comfortable doing it, DON'T DO IT. If you screw up, you'll be buying a new motherboard. http://us.msi.com/product/mb/K9N6P [...] /?div=BIOS
