  1. Looks like a pretty nice build for just browsing the web. Where did you find those prices?
  2. minus the 550ti.a HD6670 will get the job done and will save you some can also save some more by getting a h61/h67 mobo.z68 isn't required for basic's my suggestion-
    LG dvd-
    HAF 912-
    sammy f4 2tb-
    sapphire 6670-
    antec earthwatt 500w-
    mushkin enhanced blackline 8gb-
    Asrock H61 usb3 mobo-
    i3 2120-
total-$587 before rebates and $552 after rebates.
  3. why a dedicated gpu if you can do with the integrated gpu. i.e. HD 2000.

it can also run dual monitors
  4. while it might be fun to build a whole new PC, what exactly are you going to be improving for him for his $600?

His current build has more than enough CPU to do the expected tasks. Lets assume he has 2GB of DDR2, that is still not going to limit anything like what he is doing.

If you want my advice, buy a nice SSD for half the money and spend your time re-installing the OS and his apps. He will see far more benefit and it will cost less.
  5. he just told me to throw together a build for him for $600 or less he wants a little more future proofing and i will be running some mildly graphics intensive games on it so hence the 550 ti and he runs photoshop
