Hi so my dad wants to get a new computer for mostly web browsing, watching movies, and the other odd tasks so here is the build i threw together please rate

CPU Intel Core i3-2120 3.3GHz Dual-Core $125.89
Motherboard ASRock Z68 PRO3 GEN3 ATX LGA1155 $104.99
Memory Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 $37.99
Hard Drive Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM $89.99
Video Card Gigabyte GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB $99.99
Case Cooler Master HAF 912 ATX Mid Tower $49.99
Power Supply Antec 550W ATX12V $64.99
Optical Drive LG GH24NS70 OEM DVD/CD Writer $17.98
total: $591.81 (after rebates)

he said no more than six hundred dollars and some future proofing he won't be running games on it and it is absolutely step up from what he has now (AMD Athlon II X4 640 based build)
please rate!

minus the 550ti.a HD6670 will get the job done and will save you some bucks.you can also save some more by getting a h61/h67 mobo.z68 isn't required for basic works.here's my suggestion-

while it might be fun to build a whole new PC, what exactly are you going to be improving for him for his $600?

His current build has more than enough CPU to do the expected tasks. Lets assume he has 2GB of DDR2, that is still not going to limit anything like what he is doing.

If you want my advice, buy a nice SSD for half the money and spend your time re-installing the OS and his apps. He will see far more benefit and it will cost less.
