Screen resolution

have res set to highest setting for my wide screen monitor, everytime i start the desk top, i get a beep then the res goes to its lowest setting??? i have to reset it and save it and next time it does it again. what can i do???

uninstall reinstall drivers, new GPU? that should be a start with the lack of information
