so iv had my custom gaming desktop for abot 6-7 months no problems. i tried turning my computer on a few days ago and it turns on for a split second then shuts off (led lights and fans go on then off). after it did that if i tried to turn it on again nothing would happen unless i unplug the computer then plug it back in and press the power butten (then it turns on and off again). after a few more tries it finally booted up and i used it for about an hour until it shut off and a message appeared saying "poewr supply surges detected during the previous power on ASUS anti surge was triggered to protect system from unstable power supply". does this mean i need a new psu? the psu i have now is a LOGISYS PS575XBK.
That's good enough...your PSU is technically sufficient for your PC but it is of very poor quality. I highly recommend replacing it with a quality PSU from a reputable mfr. The Corsair CX430 is a good quality, value-oriented PSU that can easily be bought for around $20 after MIR. The current rebate is good on purchases made thru today, 17Jul2012, but the rebates occur on a regular basis.
There is a great deal going on this one.
