ASUS anti surge detected unstable power supply

so iv had my custom gaming desktop for abot 6-7 months no problems. i tried turning my computer on a few days ago and it turns on for a split second then shuts off (led lights and fans go on then off). after it did that if i tried to turn it on again nothing would happen unless i unplug the computer then plug it back in and press the power butten (then it turns on and off again). after a few more tries it finally booted up and i used it for about an hour until it shut off and a message appeared saying "poewr supply surges detected during the previous power on ASUS anti surge was triggered to protect system from unstable power supply". does this mean i need a new psu? the psu i have now is a LOGISYS PS575XBK.

  1. The reason you need a new PSU is because Logisys don't sell good PSUs.
  2. +1 ^^ Preach it Silvune!
  3. What are your system specs?

Gotta love the PS575XBK specs: +3.3V@38A, +5V@40A, +12V@25A There are 400W PSUs with more juiice on the 12V rails.
  4. -4gb ram
    -ASUS M5A87 mobo
    -AMD phenom II X4 3.6Hz
    -ATI radeon hd 6670
anything else i should put down?
  5. Logisys is the weak link.

Get 8GB if u can. (Make sure your windows is x64bit if u do.)
  6. That's good enough...your PSU is technically sufficient for your PC but it is of very poor quality. I highly recommend replacing it with a quality PSU from a reputable mfr. The Corsair CX430 is a good quality, value-oriented PSU that can easily be bought for around $20 after MIR. The current rebate is good on purchases made thru today, 17Jul2012, but the rebates occur on a regular basis.
  7. Get this one instead. Uses less power and its bit better for the same price.

Slight miscommunication I think...he's already built the above PC and is now having power issues.

  17. The CX430 is a great little PSU and will actually support up to an HD 6850 with no problems.
