if you're gonna put in a gaming gfx card, you wanna make sure it runs well, yes? then why run it on an unreliable, false-specced piece of hardware? it's not that it's not a great psu... it's not even a decent psu. it'd only work if you never load your machine and use low power parts.
i would not use 6870/6950/6970 with cm extreme pp 600w.
you're better off upgrading to a better quality psu. a psu like seasonic s12ii 520w or corsair tx 650 v2 would be better imo. depends on your budget.

Totally agree with De5_roy. So great, you've been getting away with using the CM pos PSU, but now you're upgrading you need to ask yourself if you really want to risk damage to your components by continuing to use that crappy psu? I guess this is the time when dirty Harry is wispering in your ear "Do ya feel lucky?"

those people on the other forums are right, it's not a great power supply. not even mediocre one

Why manufacturers like Cooler Master are still carrying power supplies with fake wattages is a mystery to us. We know that this is a very low-end power supply, but this doesn’t give the manufacturer the right to lie. This unit should be labeled as a 450 W unit and sold for half of its price. Being labeled as a 600 W product and sold for USD 70, it is a complete rip-off.

all that said the AMD 6870 hardly draws a lot of power so your PSU will power it. the other video cards you mentioned will be pushing that PSU to a quick death. It it was my PC, i would get a better PSU. If I was stuck with that PSU for whatever reason, I would stick the AMD 6870 in the PC of the three cards you mentioned.

off the top of my head,

PC power and cooling 600w
Antec HCG 620w
Seasonic 620w

all can provide 600w+ of continuous power, plenty for what you want

if you want to spend a little more, there are plenty of good 650w units from xfx, antec, corsair, ocz
