i found a good deal on 2 4870x2 graphics cards but im not sure if they are worth it . will i be able to use all 4 of them in battlefield 3 . I've heard about so many problems and they take a lot of power (423w @ full load) .

Quad GPU's don't scale very well and you will probably only get at most the performance of three, not to mention the possibility of microstuttering.

The 4000 series are now a much older architecture and they don't even support Direct X 11.

Depending on how good of a deal you're getting on them, your best bet might be to skip on the deal and get a single HD 7970 which alone can get ~100 fps on Ultra details. (Source, Tomshardware 7970 Benchmark) You will also eliminate any possibility of Microstuttering.

 7970 thats $600

the 2 4870x2 are $160 . it can play dx11 games its just that there's no tessellation . and i there isn't a lot of micro stuttering on 4xxx gpu. i could sell my 6850 for about 120-140 without postage and my current psu to get a 975w + psu

$160? SOLD.

I was expecting maybe $300! At $160 that's a damn steal

if you already have a 6850 just get a second one of them the 6 series scales alot better than the 4 series cards not to mention noise and power issues, i previously had 4850 cf and i was forever having dramas with bf bad company 2 trying to get a stable driver even to 4850's got hot and noisy together 2 4870x2 would be unbearable in my books! currently have 6950 and running bf3 @1680x1050 (all my 22 will do) at ultra settings with out the noise and heat of the 2 4850s and it runs ALOT quicker

well i found an even better deal 5970 for $260 . so never mind this but i would like to know if 650w is enough . most of the reviews say the systems total consumption at is 400-500w at FULL load . and my cpu is only 95w
