I'm in the same boat, video card and monitor are the last to upgrade. I'm upgrading from a GTX 260. Torn between a GTX 560 TI or waiting for the rest of the 7000 series and Nvidia's new cards...

if We are in the same boat we would sink lol :kaola:

On one hand, there's always something new around the corner.

On the other hand, the new GPUs are coming out now (over the course of the next few months) and are not just improved GPUs, but are also on a process shrink.

I think in this case, waiting is a good idea or you might find yourself with a bad case of buyers remorse in 4 months.

Ah...in that case...now. Fastest you can afford. Anyway, if the Xbox rumours are true, then you wouldn't need much more than current gen cards for a long while to come! :D

Edit: Wasn't the 7950 supposed to be 300+ at launch? Though you could wait and see, no harm in that...

hay I found these two : (1) XFX HD 6950 2GB GDDR5 XXX Edition
(2)MSI N560GTX-Ti Twin Frozr II/OC 1024MB GDDR5

Q:which is better for games like bf3 and other upcoming games???

I originally had a gtx 580 that shorted, but even it didn't max BF3. If you game alot get the best you can afford. The cost to upgrade to a 560 448 core or a 2gb 6970 may be worth it.

We would be lucky if the 7950 is $400, it's probably going to be $450 to start. For that price I would get a 6950 2GB that can be flashed to a 6970, I don't see how you could beat that for ~$250. I don't think we'll see "midrange" cards from Kepler/7000 series for a while.

My opinion on the original $250 budget? Pump the brakes until ATI shows us what else is in store for the Radeon HD 7xxx series...

I'm in a similar situation, and the longer we wait. The better price-to-performance ratio we'll be in for!!

Yeah but the OP has nothing now.

I think buying now will get a good card for sure. But on the other hand, maybe buy a cheap $100 card now and just try to put a little money away over the next couple months and get a $300 7000 AMD or 600 Nvidia.
