I've got 2 40GB drives, one has ME loaded the other has 98. Both are in removable HD cases. I currently swap them as needed.

Anyone know if I can set the ME as the master and install the 98 as a slave, putting the 98 drive physically in the box on the same cable, even though the 98 is a separate bootable drive?

I'd be willing to make the 98 drive into an ME if that would help.

My plan is to grab files off of the 98 drive and throw them on the ME, repartition them into 3 or so partitions in order to get 80 GB total.

Thanks

Possible, but I don't think you'll be able to boot from the Win98 drive.

Don't need to.

I'm just wondering if the 98 drive files would be accessable to the ME, seeing as how the 98 is, on its own, a bootable drive.

My guess is yes, everything will be ok. It will recognize the slave for what it is, a slave, and allow me to get files from it.

I'm being lazy here. It's easily tested by just doing it, but I figured I'd like an answer before taking 10 minutes of excruciating labor to add the drive. ;)
