I was thinking of getting an HP Photosmart 635 for each of my girls (11
and 9 years old), as their first digital cameras. A local camera store
has them on sale for $79.00US. They also have 256MB SD cards on sale for
$30, and (4) rechargeable batteries and charger for $10. Seems like a
pretty good deal to me.
Anyone have the HP 635? Any comments, good or bad? Do you think this
would be a good first digital camera for kids?

FWIW - I started digital with an HP 315xi 5 years ago - 2 Mpixels, no
zoom. Good camera, took a lot of pics with it; printed them up to 5X7"
without a lot of problems. Very simple to use; not a lot of controls.
Tough, dropped it a bunch of times without problems; it's still going
strong for my spouse. It ate AA batteries something fierce, though; I
never used the LCD because of this. Shutter lag was too long, too.
