this is the motherboard

As you can see it has a port for both a 24 pin and 8 pin ATX power cable

Here is my case which i REGRET CHEAPING OUT ON!!!!

Intel i7 2600k CPU @ 3.6-8GHz (turbo)

Heres my problem I am running my computer 24/7 at around 60-80% cpu usage and 50-70% ram usage. Manufacture heatsink was leaving me at around 80-85 degrees which i noticed very quickly so i purchased H100 by corsair

now the radiator and everything manages to VERY CLOSELY fit into my case with ONLY ONE FAN :( we all knew it was too good to be true. I can do one of two things at this point i was going to cut up my fan brackets because only one corner is interrupted by the PS/2 keyboard/mouse ports but i just realized that even after doing that there is a 8 pin THAT just happens to be 1cm-ish to long :(.

QUESTION #1: Is the 8 pin even really needed?

With only one fan i get my CPU temp to around 56-60 degrees Celsius. With both fans it would be closer to 40-45 which is what i prefer, also i plan i buying better fans then what it came with those are too loud for my taste.

If yes then,

What CPU fan would you recommend I really dont want to purchase another case because if I did that i would just do a whole new build. this was my first build im happy with how it came out for a first time but I need it to stay cool because I plan into O/C it in the near future due to the fact that the work load is going to increase if all goes well :) and if all goes incredibly well ill be popping back in for opinions on a brand new expensive built! Cant wait.

ANYWAYS THANKS for the long read and all HELP ahead of time! :hello:

My GPU is always around 33 degrees Celsius if that information is needed!

Yes, the 8 pin is needed, it powers your CPU. Although I agree the your best option at this point is to get an air cooler, I would suggest the CoolerMaster Hyper 212EVO. About the same price, better performance (from reviews read) or you could go full water like one of these kits - mounting the radiator on the outside of your case.

just a thought...

Afterthought: hold onto the H100, but keep it in mind when you are shopping for you next case - use it in that build...
