I'm considering buying the i7-3820, but I heard that there is no support for PCI-E 3.0. Then I heard there are certain motherboards that will allow you to activate support for it, does anybody know which ones do, and how to do it?
The issue isnt so much as activating support for PCI-E 3.0 on the Intel® Core™ i7-3820 and the other Intel Core i7 processors that use socket 2011; as it is that officially it doesn't support (so no warranty on it) but the technology ready on these processors http://communities.intel.com/message/144483#144483
Make sure the board you have support PCI-E 3.0 and that the device that you are using is is PCI-E 3.0. I don't know if there are even any that are PCI-E 3.0 out yet. The nVidia GTX 680 is the closest that I know of and I think it still doenst fill a PCI-E 2.0 16X slot.
