Hi
I'm quite new in CPU upgrading.
I want to upgrad my HP 625 CPU to the maximum it can take.
Can you tell me what is the best one I can fit and is AMD Phenom II X940 gonna work at all?
Thanks a lot

Thanks o1die for your reply.
I've already checked here and this is the list with compatible models. I just wasn't sure if the information is up to date and if anyone has tried AMD Phenom II X940 on their platforms.

AMD Phenom Triple-Core Mobile Processor P820 (1.8 GHz, 1.5MB L2 cache)
AMD Turion II Dual-Core Mobile Processor P560 (2.5 GHz, 2MB L2 cache)
AMD Turion II Dual-Core Mobile Processor P540 (2.4 GHz, 2MB L2 cache)
AMD Turion II Dual-Core Mobile Processor P520 (2.3 GHz, 2MB L2 cache)
AMD Athlon II Dual-Core Processor P360 (2.3 GHz, 1MB L2 cache)
AMD Athlon II Dual-Core Processor P340 (2.2 GHz, 1MB L2 cache)
AMD Athlon II Dual-Core Processor P320 (2.1 GHz, 1MB L2 cache)
AMD V Series Processor V160 (2.4 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache)
AMD V Series Processor V140 (2.3 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache)
AMD V Series Processor V120 (2.2 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache)

I wouldn't do it; your heatsink may be custom made for your board; unless you find a better heatsink, changing to the x940 may result in too much heat. Notebooks are limited as to what heatsinks they can use; you'll never find a retail box notebook cpu with heatsink. There's no standard the cpu manufacturer's can use with the fan port. IF you want comfirmation, try to find an hp forum on their website.
