I want to get a router with built in firewall (which may be inherent to all, I don't know). What is a good one for a low price, like around $50-70 US? Not a wireless one, either.

Also, if I am running a router with firewall, do I need to run a software one as well? Sorry, these are simple questions, but I'm fairly new to firewalls and related things.

Linksys BEFSR41 around $40-50.

Routers, by default act as Firewall because they have NAT (Network address translation). You can also block ports, open ports, etc.

You can double up with a software firewall if you want. It's not totally necessary, but I honestly can't say no to it.

I've been behind a router for years and I have yet to have any problems. Others will say they've had problems.

Your basic protection will come from being behind a router though.

I like D-Link 604 router.
Under $40 and performs flawless, for me anyway.
