I have an old system, pretty much assembled from spare parts which is great to tinker with. I tried to replace a Geforce FX 5500 AGP 128MB with a Geforce FX 5500 AGP 256MB. The first time, garbled pattern on screen, so I worked with drivers, settings, etc. and it still isn't recognized in the device manager. I've literally investigated every avenue and you're my last resort. I chose this card because I wanted to avoid any conflict and because it was cheap. Is there an obvious reason I shouldn't be able to run it? The card as older, but unused when I got it.

Gigabyte 8i848p-g (ver. 2)
Intel celeron D 330 2.66 GHz Prescott 256 (Pent 4 on it's way)
450W Power Supply
HP Pavilion f1503 monitor 1024x768 (Will replace soon)

I know. I should invest in a new system and I intend to, but I want to know first-hand what I'm getting and why. Who knows, maybe someday I can put the pieces together myself. :)

Thanks all!
