Woops... I'm 62 years old. Music producer for 35 years (yes I have real scars from splicing analog tape). Built my last PC in 2006. Been using M-Audio Delta 1010 x 2 since 2000. Just upgraded to a screaming i7, 16GB ram w/solid state drives... but there are no PCI slots. PCIe only. All my research tells me there is no compatibility solution. Am I thwarted? Must I upgrade to firewire? USB?

Many thanks,

Beezer the Geezer

Hi! Im 14 years old :)
I recommend to upgrade to USB since it has better performance and has better processing.

Good Luck!

Yeah, you do need a pci, and not pci-e. I have years of experience myself with the delta's and have come to hate them. If there is anyway you can send it back i would. Go with E-MU if you can. Right now though you cannot put the two of them in your PC.

Issues I've had..

1. Cracking in recordings
2. Crashes "Sonar X1"

Sadly i got mad and finally tore that card out of my machine and smashed it on the concrete. I've been alot happier since. I lost a irreplaceable recording when i snapped on the card.

I wouldn't get any PCI wireless card anymore. Get instead USB, it has more power, faster reconnecting times and longer distance coverage.
No more disconnections, PCI device slows down the boot time too. When I start the PC, type the password, and click on tom's HW shortcut, it is displayed in a second!

With that PCI (had 2 more to try) it started to connect after log in and it took few seconds.

Needs less energy (ecological), and has better range and performance.

PCI cards won't affect boot time, they have the advantage of being fixed in and won't get damaged as easily, range and speed depend on which type of wireless card you get and what version wireless connection you have got (b,g,n), there are also pci express x1 cards, what motherboard is in your system.

And USB cards hog an extra USB port, my computer has no difference in boot speed times with or without an PCI card.
Which wireless cards did you use (PCI ones).

And when did wireless cards come into this?

If you got a new Mobo then you could return it and get another with an PCI slot.
