Headphones + soundcard

Hey, i'm going to be buying the "Audio Technica ATH-AD700" for my next gaming headphones and i was wondering if i would NEED a sound card to get full potential out of these headphones.

If so, can anyone point me in the direction of a good Sound Card for gaming?

After a quick search through the forums I found these, but there seems to be many conflicting views. As I said, I'm no audiophile but the one I mentioned earlier and these three seem to be popular.

lol, that part of the reason why I stopped using them. I'd rather put the money toward other components and I could never see the sense of buying a rubbish soundcard.
