Software requesting resolution greater than 1080x768

Hello,
Have a HP laptop. Windows 7 64 bit. 17" monitor. Trying to load and run my Canon camera software and I get error message that the resolution must be at least 1080x768. Won't let me run the software, which I need to edit RAW images.

Well... if your laptop has too low of a res then you are out of luck (though I find it hard to believe with a 17" laptop monitor). What is your current resolution? What is your laptop model?
