Hello, I tried WOL and works well but WOW doesn't. Should I configure my routers accordingly? I have a Linksys WRT54G2, Cradlepoint CTR500, D-Link 150 DIR-600 and a TopGlobal MB6800. Will any of these work and what parameters should I change?

Most routers do not allow access to the broadcast IP (x.x.x.255) of the network from the WAN side. And that's precisely what WOL uses. It broadcasts the magic packet across the LAN in hopes the intended target (based on the MAC address) detects it and responds.

The only way around it I've found is to use a dd-wrt/tomato compatible router and a special hack.

It definitely works as I'm using it right now w/ my WL-500Gp V2 router running tomato. And the reason it works is because these third party firmware solutions give you access to low-level features on the router, like the ARP tables. But w/ your run-of-the-mill commercial router, you’re pretty much stuck.
