Monitor says no signal

I have a monitor that has a vga cable that is connected into a adapter and connected to the dvi in the graphics card it is gtx470 why am i getting the no signal messgggeeeeeeeee

Maybe it's broken...Try running it from another PC??

What are your complete system specifications?

i have a intel i7 proccesor
Gigabyte EX58-UD3R
gtx 460

"Complete system specifications" also include RAM, PSU, and case. For this problem, the case irrelevant. The RAM might be. The installed PSU matters.

Also need a better description of the problem.

Is the PC passing the POST and booting to Windows? If so, how do you know?

Or is this a classic "no boot, no video" problem?

I mean work through, not just read over it. We spent a lot of time on this. It should find most of the problems.

If that doesn't work, I have some more advance troubleshooting ideas.

Does the monitor work with another PC?

Does the 460 work in another PC?
