TX850 vs Greedy Video Cards

Recently I procured a TX850V2, seems respectable enough. Definitely has all the qualities an enthusiast would want.

Right now I have an old GTX 260 that can play game fine. Eventually new consoles will make that obsolete but I expect it to be relevant for at least another year or so.

Now the current GTX 680 is a relatively big improvement over the GTX 260 but at current prices I am balking at the cost.

The GTX 690 is even more brutal, but I am concerned about the life expectancy of dual GPU cards which seem to not last long. The HD 6990 is a brutal on the electric bill.

Now my PSU can definitely cope with a pair of GTX 680s so I am not too concerned.

I wonder if the TX850 would choke on a pair of 300W cards?

680 sli is no problem for that PSU.
If you mean 690 sli i think its safer to stick with something around 1000-1200 watts.

http://www.legitreviews.com/article/1921/12/ check power consumption

Its always better to be safe then sorry. More is better then having less.

Probably not since that makes 600 and the rest of the system will hardly pull 250watt!
Most systems with HD6570 and HD6670 are around 200watts on load.

The HD 6570 and HD 6670 are the bottom of the line, I use an NVIDIA GTX class card which is in a different league.

I know that I was using it as an EXAMPLE that the rest of your system will not pull 250watts with 2 x 300watt cards installed! If you read the first line of my previous post!

buyinng a 680 is a waste of money especially when the 670 gives almost identical performance. in some games. even if you decide to oc the 670 it will bring you even closer to the 680 considering its £100/$150 cheaper its a much better option especially if your gonna sli as $300 will get a very reasonable ssd.
when compared to the 690 you will get comparable performance from the 2 670's due to the reduced clocks on the 690, again for way less money.

I noticed in reviews of the 6990 that there is a switch to let the card use even more power. So much for the trend towards less power consumption
