Can a GE Force 9500 GS run a 42" 1080p TV thruogh 40' of HDMI cable ?

^ that should be hdmi "output" not input.

For that length, make sure you pick a certified HDMI cable, not the cheapest one you can find. You're getting close to the limit of a good signal from computer to TV at that length.

yessir, you will need a dvi to hdmi dongle unless you have a hdmi imput on the card.

It's not the card, it's just the data signal limitations going over the cable. Card is fine unless you plan on playing games on full 1080 resolutions. Then you need something a lot more powerful.
