Guys,

So my GTX 460 superclocked seemed to die the other day no display, however I may try it again if it does not work what GPU should I pick up. I'm currently looking on Ebay because I'm a cheap like that :p I do edit on this PC so I understand that a Nvida card would suit me better but I have a price range of around £100 - £230 now I know the 560ti is decent I was thinking trying to pick up a 570 on ebay or maybe AMD 6970... Remember I was on a 460. Do you have any recommendations on some cards guys?

Cheers Cain.

If you can get one off ebay go for it, If you still have warranty on that card (some nvidia cards have pretty long warranties) check in on that. I've found too many times that most people sell their cards on ebay for no lower than 10 dollars lower than the price of newegg (unless it's 1 or 2 generations older) so you may be hard pressed to find one through there.

Great choice, the 6950 performs alot like the 6970 you mentioned when you overclock the 6950 (+/-3% of the 6970)

But the GTX 570 has the cuda cores I need for video editing but then I have a 2600k so I suppose the CPU can handle editing well enough!

Yeah, my suggestion, is go for the 6950 and try to get that 460 back through warranty even if it's a little past warranty, depending on the company they can be very generous :)
if you can get it back through warranty you can use the card side by side with a physx hack or using the cuda applications under a false duplicate window. The i7 shouldn't have much trouble but it's always nice to try to get the most you can out of what you have :)

I've never had to return a GPU with proof of purchase, only with rebates have they ever asked for proof of purchase. It depends on the company, some are really nice and will only ask some info about the card what went wrong and the serial number and to ship it for them to look at. If they deem it a fault of the card and not a user error they may send you a new one. it never hurts to try. 30 minutes of a little work goes a long way :)

Right the 6950 is at £150 which I think Is a little much for that card. I can buy the GTX 560ti DirectCUII for £155 free shipping brand new...What do you think?

The 560ti is a little weaker than the 6950 except in games where NVIDIA cards are better optimized. If paying an extra 5 for a little worse performance and physx is fine with you go for it. They both are great overclockers. If you don't think you can get the 460 back on warranty I'd get the 560ti if you want to keep physx or brand loyalty.

Still confused and with 20 minutes to go I will let this go, at £150. No point in bidding if my mind is still at a crossroads. I need to retest my 460 so we shall wait until weekend :)

Hello Toms Hardware.

I did already have a thread about GPU's but I can't find it to put this update so sorry for that but I have 2 cards but I can't choose between them. Either the Asus nVIDIA SLI GeForce GTX 570 DirectCu II or the Sapphire HD 6970 2GB, now I'm getting a deal on both of them really.

ASUS DirectCUII = £203

6970 = £218

So i want to play skyrim and record it using Fraps since I run a YouTube channel it needs to be good quality here are my other specs

Fractal Design Define R3
i7 2600k (non OC)
Noctua NH D14
8GB 1600MHz RAM
Corsair HX 750w PSU

So any suggestions and will It do what I want play and record in decents FPS?

Nope. Sandy Bridge is excellent at OCing. You only have to change the multiplier. The only way you can kill a processor by OCing is by messing with the voltage, and you don't have to do that at all.

Surely if I change mulitiplyer to 40 then the voltage will increase automatically?
