Going to overclock this IVY Brige to 6.0 GHZ. I will be buying these items after summer, because I know that motherboard and CPU will be sold out in no time. IVY bridge comes out April 29th. What do you rate this rig? :D  Ill be using it for gaming on ultra graphics, High Video rendering, steam games etc, etc..

Why would you want to o/c a chip that high? Ivy is pretty much a down sized version of Sandy Bridge, and with SB any o/c over 4.4 - 4.5Ghz nets you about zero gain. Throwing that many volts into a chip to net zero gain seems not too intelligent. You shorten the life span of that chip for what?

A motherboard costing more than your graphics card somehow doesn't make sense.

Get the $2000 build in my sig with a single GTX680. You'll have enough headroom for another in he future. If you want IB, get a i5 3570k.

Overclock to 6GHz!? Please tell me you're trolling, or that's a typo...

It is not trolling or a typo. IB is just going to be that good with overclocking.

Is there evidence of this? There's no way Ivy Bridge is going to be that good...

IB is going to have more OC headroom than SB. If I am able to get to 5 GHz on my SB i5-2500k, how is it hard to believe he can get 6 GHz on IB i5-3570k?

He might get that high but here's the bigger question. Will getting that much o/c on his cpu net him any gain? There's guys up in the o/c section of this forum riding at 5.0Ghz on a SB while pushing 1.4+ volts into their cpu, yet with SB anything past 4.4 - 4.5Ghz nets you little to nothing in regards to any extra FPS. I have a feeling IB is going to be similar in that regard. He may get his cpu that high, but it's going to be for bragging rights only while shoving all those extra volts into his cpu thus shortening the life span. Seems like he's about to waste a cpu.

what's your voltage at for your 2500k? Is it a 24/7 OC? And TweakTown got around 7Ghz I think on the 3770k, but there were using liquid nitrogen. So unless you have an abundant supply of that, good luck to OP getting stable at 6Ghz. Also like others have stated, there is no need for such high clock speeds, unless it's for benchmarking and/or bragging rights...

I think you need a better Graphics card, A better case.. Coolermaster Quality is pretty poor.

6ghz might be possible but no way thats gonna be stable... not unless your doing phase change cooling or some other extreme method. Besides after 4500mhz the returns on your overclock start tailing off fast... You spend 400 bucks trying to cool something that 3% better frame rates when you could have spend 200 bucks on a better graphics card and got 30% better frames.

I don't understand your philosophy behind this build... If your looking for bragging rights about a fast processor... by all means... but it's going to be out proformed by cheaper machines.

I am aware of that, but that was not what he asked. He asked if it was possible, and I said yes it is. :p
