Hey Guys,

I have been wanting to build a new computer, but that will take some time.

My current desktop is a Dell Dimension C521 and it has an onboard graphics card (Owners manual here). This means I cannot run low spec games that I would like to play (e.g Dungeon Defenders, Minecraft) without tons of lag so I want to add a graphics card.

The only problem is that the Dell Dimension C521 has a Slim case, this means a lot of graphics cards will not fit inside it (sorry if you already know this). So I need help choosing a cheap graphics card (No more than £30) for temporary use in this machine. It doesn't need to be really fast, just good enough to play my low spec games.

I have:

Amd Athlon 64 X2 Dual core processor 1.9 ghz
4 gb of RAM
280 PSU

If you need any other specs, let me know.

Thanks for this :D

Not sure about pricing and availability in the UK, but what you're looking for is a "Low Profile" card. Cards that come to mind are the Radeon HD 6450 and 6570, and NVidia's GT 520 and GT 430. All of these cards sell in the US for between 30-65 dollars, which is what? About 4-5 pounds sterling? :p

(I'm actually going to guess most sell for 35ish pounds, give or take a few quid, depending on the model)

I installed an ATI Radeon 5450 graphics card. Cost about 23.00 pds from Currys.
Seems to work fine on low spec activities.
