Should a 4 pin power connector be used for a i5 3570K?

My friend's 700w psu was a DOA.Now he is running a 460W (backup) power supply which has only 4 pins for the CPU.He is running a GTX 670SC , i5 3570K,2 HDDs.Amazingly His system is running fine and he tells me it won't be a problem unless he overclocks.Is it true?

Its fine to run on 4 pin.

Its even in manual, it tells you what 4 pin holes to use.

4pin generally is on older PSU's. Or lower than 500W nowadays.

Well I recommened at least a good 550W for that sytem... he might be running on a 460W now.. but sooner or later it wont handle and the PSU will go out.

He can run on 430W, if the PSU is quality one.

550W is fine.
